Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Bike Tours (Guided and Self-Guided)

Start your day off with a bike ride on one of the most historic trails in Southern Nevada. This newly paved trail is part of the original historical railroad that hauled materials to supply and people to build the Hoover Dam. Along your ride you will experience the Mojave Desert in its natural setting while gradually descending on the trail over open desert and through Wild West style settings.

Once in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area the path becomes smooth gravel and one can see a close resemblance to how it looked when it was still a railroad. Now with a much more rustic trail ahead it is always good to keep your camera handy, Big Horn are also spotted in a more natural setting along the rocky cliffs above any of the five tunnels that you will be riding through. Find yourself “flying” on a bicycle as you ride effortlessly through the Black Canyon Gorge eventually leading to the Hoover Dam. Once on the Dam it is best to park your bike because your eyes will be open wide trying to take in all the spectacular views of Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. Shuttle will meet at a convenient location to take you back to Las Vegas.

Meet us at our premier bicycle shop and start the tour on your own schedule. Take your time, smell the flowers, get to the bottom on your own time. Gradually descending along the Historical Railroad trail you will encounter Creosote, Mojave Yucca and even Desert Tortoise while you effortlessly glide down the newly paved trail that leads you through five amazing rock tunnels. The trails rustic features arise from the old railroad bed with fun rolling areas and scenic vistas. When down on the Hoover Dam lock up your bike and explore on your own. Take a break at the Spillway Café or check out the amazing geological features around Lake Mead like Fortification Hill. How are Las Vegas’ lights so bright? Make sure you see the generators on the Hoover Dam tour from the inside out. Finally get picked up and returned back to our bicycle shop in Boulder City.
